A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PASTOR
"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be
glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)
Try something. Take a large sheet of white paper and draw a
small dot in the center of the paper. Now, tell me what you see.
Do you see the dot, or do you see the sheet of paper? I promise,
if you were to show your piece of paper to a friend and ask them
what they see, many would say they see a dot. Fewer still would
say they see a sheet of paper; a sheet of paper I might add,
that is very clean. A clean sheet of paper is a good way to
think about each day. It is clean and ready for anything. It is
a day that has never been lived before. But along comes someone
we don't like and we draw a big dot right in the middle of the
paper; we break our favorite coffee cup, another big dot;
someone hurts our feelings, three dots. You get the idea. As the
day continues we add dots and every time we look at our day,
every time we look at our sheet of paper, all we see are the
dots. And by the time we are ready for bed all we can do is
scream, "What a rotten day!" How would the day end if we could
see the sheet of paper, see all of the places that are clean and
free of dots? So often we spend our time seeing only the
problems, and we let them become the center of our entire day. A
new day is given to each of us, over and over again. We need to
remember to use all of it, and not concentrate only on the
problems that arise. Don't let a dot spoil a day.
