Live Nativity

Every other year on a weekend shortly before Christmas we transform our huge parking lot into the town of Bethlehem and provide a drive-thru and walk-thru “Live Nativity.”  Many scenes are depicted from the biblical account, populated by over 50 townspeople in full costume.  Hundreds of hours go into making and setting up the elaborate sets and everything is illuminated for night viewing.  From a central stage traditional music can be heard from local church bands and choirs as we celebrate the joy of Christ’s birth.  The centerpiece is the live nativity surrounded by live animals and real hay.  Some years if the timing is right the manger holds a living baby, but the “Live Nativity” is always alive with the sights and sounds of Christmas.  Beginning about 6 p.m. on a Saturday and Sunday evening hundreds drive or walk through the “Live Nativity.”  Each is given information to remind them what they have seen and the children are given candy canes.  Everything is offered to the community for free although donations to help offset the cost are always welcomed.  Young or old, come this year and celebrate anew the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  All are welcome. The next live nativity will be December 2021. Call the church (refer to contact page) for details to visit, or volunteer.
